A Two-Decade Passionate Partnership: Taiwan Beer and National Taiwan Sport University

This meaningful partnership began in 2001, a year widely remembered as the “Year of Baseball” in Taiwan. In response to the national effort to revitalize baseball and to connect a healthy corporate image with the vitality of campus sports, Taiwan Beer partnered with the then National College of Physical Education and Sports (renamed National Taiwan Sport University in 2009) to launch a long-term industry–academia collaboration and officially establish the Taiwan Beer Baseball Team.

Over more than two decades, this cross-generational partnership has grown into one of the most representative examples of industry–university cooperation in Taiwan. It has also become one of the most stable and inspiring sources of support within Taiwan’s sports community.

Strong Institutional Support: Protecting Every Athlete’s Dream

Transforming passion into competitive excellence requires a solid and comprehensive support system. Through a joint management committee formed by both partners, a well-structured review and operational mechanism has been established. This system ensures that resources are effectively allocated to team administration, professional training, athlete nutrition, and competition reward programs.

With this long-term commitment, athletes can focus fully on their performance and pursuit of excellence. The team has achieved outstanding results in national tournaments such as the Meihua (Plum Blossom) Flag Baseball Championship, while also developing numerous talented players who have gone on to shine in Taiwan’s professional baseball leagues and on the international stage.

Commitment to the Community: Spreading the Spirit of Baseball

Beyond competitive achievements, this partnership also extends its impact to broader social engagement. Since 2006, the partners have organized the annual LeLe Baseball Camp, where professional players serve as coaches and introduce schoolchildren to the joy of baseball.

Beginning in 2023, these efforts expanded into the Taiwan Beer Baseball Development Public Welfare Series, a comprehensive initiative that includes coaching programs in rural communities and the establishment of the Taiwan Beer Cup, featuring university and women’s baseball competitions. These initiatives aim to promote equal access to sports and strengthen grassroots baseball development.

For Taiwan Beer and National Taiwan Sport University, this partnership represents more than collaboration. It is a shared commitment to the community—ensuring that the love and spirit of baseball continue to take root and flourish throughout Taiwan.
